The Flaming Lips stop in Portland and they bring their Midwestern oddball flair along with them. I imagine Wayne has a this hazy aura that permeates a large orbit around him…come to think of it, I’m sure that’s where he got the bubble idea in the first place. They are — along with a few others you’ll find around here — one of my favorite bands, ever. That kind of sound/style that is singular and unique. When the spirit goes from four disc sets that you have to sync using varying playback sources and culminates with a nonstop streaming 24 hour song, you are truly allowed the term unique, and yes, possibly even the word (mad) genius.
