Starting over, lessons learned, etc, etc…
This is a pretty special show. Knowing fans will love it, but the uninitiated might want to start elsewhere with his music — an album, perhaps — and then come back and grab this. A super HQ recording and mix of the SS Michigan
I remember this one quite clearly, even though it was over 7 years ago that I mixed it. There was something weirdly midrangy/tubey about the recordings. I could never quite place exactly where it came from. We spent some time tossing around possibilities but never did pinpoint what it was or why it was there. And the odd phenomenon never repeated itself even though we’ve done countless recordings in this space. Go figure. So this saw heavy EQ and post-processing, more than I’d like, but the result was worth the effort. You’ll see…err-uh, hear.
